Summer 2010

Buesking’s artwork displayed at Bellwether Gallery

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Michael Buesking, associate professor of art at Evangel University, has artwork on display at the Bellwether Gallery in Springfield, Mo., now through the First Friday Art Walk on June 4.

Featured works include Buesking’s “Prophet as Artist” paintings and monotypes, along with more recent pieces. The work titled “John the Baptist Altarpiece” (a triptych with moveable panels) is on display, as well as a new three-panel altarpiece finished this past fall titled “Abel to Zechariah Altarpiece.”

“This work touches partly on the idea of the suffering of innocent people and ties that idea to the ultimate sacrifice of Christ as the supreme martyr,” Buesking said.

The Bellwether Gallery is located in the Monarch Art Factory, 600 W. College St. The gallery is open Tues.-Fri. 11 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sat. noon-4 p.m.
